Vintage Sari Kantha Scarf in Dark Green Ikat
This one-of-a-kind silk and cotton scarf is lovingly handmade from a mix of vintage, upcycled saris and hand-spun fabrics in hand block prints and geometric designs.
The scarf is made using two layers of fabric, handpicked and paired for their fabulous purple hues and designs. These layers are stitched together in the style of Indian kantha, in which women hand sew rows of tiny running stitch from end to end to provide strength and enable the recycling of saris.
These kantha stitches creates a rich, rippling effect across the fabric and adds a unique texture to the scarf. Each piece is completely unique and has a story behind it.
We want every woman who wears one of our vintage sari scarves to feel connected to this story, which starts with a well-loved Sari making its way through the hands of textile-addicted designers to those of rural Indian artisans and finally to you.
Each pair of hands leaves its mark and each artisan leaves her name embroidered, in Bengali, in the corner of the scarf she has worked on.
We hope this will remind you of the long journey, and the multiple positive impacts, which your scarf has made.
This bright colored scarf measures 81 inches in length and 20 inches in width.
